SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word Athletics department prepares for an action-packed week for April 5-11. 
 
WOMEN'S SOCCER 
  • UIW will finish out the regular season with a trip to Abilene Christian on Friday 
  • UIW is currently sixth in the Southland Conference standings while ACU is fourth. 
  • The Cardinals have already clinched a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament set to begin April 13th. 
 
MEN'S SOCCER  
  • The Cardinals close out the spring season at UTRGV on Friday.  
  • UIW is 2-3 all-time against the Vaqueros, winning the last matchup, 2-0 on Nov. 9, 2019.  
  • The Cardinals are seeking their first win in Edinburg, Texas (2-0).  
 
 MEN'S TENNIS 
  • The Cardinals continue the five-match road Southland Conference schedule with a trip to Abilene Christian on Friday.  
  • UIW is just 1-11 all-time against ACU.  
  • Warren Fulgenzi and Joao Sasso are carrying a three-match win streak at No. 2 doubles position.  
 
 WOMEN'S TENNIS  
  • After the last three matches were canceled due to COVID-19 protocols, the Cardinals are back in action with two matches at Trinity on Wednesday and Northwestern State on Friday.  
  • UIW is 3-0 all-time against its I-281 neighbors, Trinity. The Cardinals defeated the Tigers, 4-3, on Feb. 24, 2019.  
  • The Cardinals are seeking their first win against Northwestern State, currently 0-6 since joining the Southland Conference.  
  • Brandelyn Fulgenzi, Kinga Psut and Sophia Kermet have all won one match in Southland Conference singles play against SFA, Nicholls and New Orleans earlier this season.  
 
TRACK & FIELD 
  • UIW hosts its annual outdoor meet, the UIW Invitational, at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium April 9-10. Tickets can be purchased HERE
  • The Cardinals return to their home facilities for the first time since 2019 and return after several recorded personal bests at the Texas Relays and the Texas State Invitational, highlighted by Rodney Littlejohn setting a new program record in the decathlon.
