Transfer Application Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum GPA required for transfer students?

A 2.5 GPA is the minimum requirement for most programs at UIW, though some programs have individual requirements. Applicants under the 2.5 GPA requirement should submit a personal statement with their application explaining any extenuating circumstances regarding GPA.

When should I apply?

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis all year, though some programs have specific application deadlines.

How many of my credits are transferrable?

Students can transfer a total of 66 semester hours from community colleges or a total of 92 semester hours from senior colleges (or a combination of colleges).

How do I know which courses I should take at my community college before transferring to UIW?

If you are a student at the Alamo Colleges in San Antonio, UIW has transfer agreements that specify which courses you need for your degree plan. View the transfer agreements.

What is a GoUIW account and why do I need one?

Students who apply to UIW using Apply Texas can create a GoUIW account to track the status of their application, check if they are missing any items, register for UIW Admissions events, and more. Students who applied for admission through the UIW website will already have a GoUIW account.
